I was very drawn in by this photo from the start. To be honest, I was surprised to see that it was a photo. Had this been a traditional...

Maybe it’s the bass
That pervades my limbs
And flows the blood, keeping me alive in
A pumping that has replaced my heart.
The vibrations from the music in the ground,
Tickling up off-white furry booted feet.
The white has dimmed,
But it says nothing.

This communal heartbeat has found
Intoxication of Deadmau5 and beads
And ecstasy. Here love is found.

Sometimes the drop makes heads
Swing in the air – a tire swing ride all day.
It’s too perfect, breathe
In the disgustingly wonderful scent
Of sweat and alcohol.
It burns and turns a neon dream
Into a reality that is smiling.
How lovely is Man.

Flashing lights turn life into
Snapshots
That reveal the souls surrounding and
Bumping in dance.
The sweat on skin mingles.
From the tempest of peace, she came.

Cosmetic flashes of color in coils of hair
Bead covered breasts and
Fishnet legs transfigure her strangeness.
Close now, so close. She smells of sweat.
She calls into ears – ‘You are beautiful.’

Nod and reverence.
Smile and laugh.
Choke in joy.

The dance continues and bass beats
Life into souls set free.
Kandi flavored arms have created a union
Of unknown lovers.
I bound; I bend; I pray.
– this is my church.

My pulse beats loud in my ears,
Or maybe it’s the bass
That pervades my limbs
And flows the blood, keeping me alive in
A pumping that has replaced my heart.

I feel the vibrations from the music in
The ground.
Tickling up my off-white furry booted
Feet.
I don’t mind that the white has dimmed,
It says nothing of me.

In this communal heartbeat I have found
My intoxication of deadmau5 and beads
And ecstasy. Here I have found love.

Sometimes the drop make my head
Swing in the air – a tire swing ride all day.
It’s too perfect, so I breathe
In the disgustingly wonderful scent
Of sweat and alcohol.
It burns my nose and turn a neon dream
Into a reality that has me smiling.
How lovely is Man.

The flashing lights turn my life into
Snapshots
That reveal the souls surrounding and bumping me as we dance.
The sweat on my skin mingles with theirs.
From the tempest of peace she came to me.

Cosmetic flashes of color in coils of hair
Bead covered breasts and
Fishnet legs transfigure her strangeness.
Close now, so close I can smell her sweat,
She calls into my ears – ‘You are beautiful.’

Hands lift.
Two of our fingers touch.
Together they curve
Into a heart that binds in love.
I press my slick palm to
Hers and our hands are together.
My fingers entwine in the rapture
Of her own as she removes a 36-bead-set
From her arm
Transfers it over our hands and smiles.

‘You are angelic,’ I say.
I nod and reverence her blush
– we smile and laugh.
I choke in joy.

The dance continues and bass beats
Life into my soul – I am set free.
Kandi flavored arms have created a union
Of unknown lovers.
I bound; I bend; I pray.

– this is my church.

Or maybe it’s the bass
That pervades my limbs and
Flows the blood, keeping me alive
In a pumping that has replaced my heart.

I feel the vibrations from the music
In the ground
Tickling up my formerly white
Furry booted feet.
I don’t mind that that white has dimmed
To a brownish – it says nothing of
My inner self.

In this communal heartbeat I have found
My intoxication of Deadmau5 and beads
And ecstasy. Here I have found love.

During the week of March 7-14, myself and a group of twenty young adults are bringing the joy of the Gospel and the light of Christ to the beautiful city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Our mission is largely based in street evangelization and bar ministry which may sound daunting, awkward, or even obnoxious, but our task and method is simple: we are looking to encounter people; to hear people’s stories and share a bit of our own with them through striking up conversations in the busy French Quarter, and the many college bars. We are not going to judge anyone or tell anyone how they should be living, but rather build up what is good in them and lead them to an authentic encounter with Christ through joyful conversation and simple prayer.
Last year during this mission, many people in the city experienced a very real encounter with God, physical and emotional healing, a desire to conform their lives more to Christ, and even just the consolation of being heard and seen by another person.
We want to invite you to be a part of our team through your spiritual and financial support. The team needs prayers to reveal God in a loving and authentic way to all of the wonderful people we will encounter. We are also in need of financial support for the practicalities of gas money, food, and lodging while we are in New Orleans. We are humbly requesting your consideration to partner with us in this mission through a financial donation. We trust that the Lord will provide the means to make this mission possible completely through the generosity of others. As a donor to our mission, you will be in our continual prayers. We trust that our heavenly Father will never be outdone in generosity, as we give, He will bless all the more.
Our website www.gofundme.com/nolamission is the easiest way to donate to our mission trip.

May the Lord continue to outpour His blessings upon you.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Peace of Christ,
The New Orleans Mission Team 2015

I don't really know what my art is. People often have something about their art that defines them as their own voice. I don't have a voice. All my art is different, and not just 'oh, your art has developed so it looks better/different'. Except for the ones that are purposely within the same theme, none of them really look the same or even similar. Let me know what you think!

I would love to help, but I'm starting to really focus on school, so I'm having a close friend of mine change my password to nearly everything, including dA! So if you ever need to contact me, email me! chispa_z_93@yahoo.com
I hope you're doing alright! Smiling is good medicine, as well as hugs! So hug someone and smile at someone every single day!
